What Website Builder Is Right For Me?

WIX

Head shot of Employee

In this section, I will talk to you about my thoughts on this product. Well, discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly about WIX. Also, how it is value-wise. Because I want my customers to be happy with their site in the long term.

The good.

WIX gives you a ton of freedom right from the beginning. If you’re a person who likes something a certain way, this is the choice for you. It also gives you the most options and apps so you can add extra features. The other good thing is that everything is designed and maintained by a single company because it’s all under one roof, everything lines up better. There is a lower chance of something going wrong. The other good thing is that WIX offers a free option that allows a website designer to design something before you have to start paying for hosting on the site. WIX Hosting plans are scalable, so if you need more features in the near future, that isn’t a problem.

The Bad.

WIX websites can only be hosted on WIX servers. This means that if WIX goes out of business or they raise their prices. Or for whatever reason you decide you don’t like them, you can’t just take your website and move to a different company. The free website also comes with a small number of adds and a strange website domain.

Value for your money

WIX offers a free starting plan that might allow you to build your website for free. Then you could stay with the free plan or upgrade to a paid plan once you already designed your website. This would allow you to get the maximum use out of your paid-for plan. Their packages also come with a free website domain for the first year. Sadly you only get those crazy low hosting prices if you sign up for several years at a time. Their month to month pricing is always quite a bit more. Overall, WIX is a decent value for what your getting, and I use it for some of my websites.

Squarespace

In this section, I will talk to you about my thoughts on this product. Well, discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly about Square Space. Also, how it is value-wise because I want my customers to be happy with their site in the long term.

The good.

Square Space has a definite system and way of doing things. All of their plugins and themes are set up to run seamlessly in this framework. There are little details that they have considered that make certain aspects of a Square Space website just a bit better to visit and work on.

The Bad.

The things that make Squarespace great also cause it to have specific issues. Squarespace gives you fewer options and control over all then other builders. So if you’re a person who wants things a certain way, you might be out of luck. You might have to learn to live with certain things. The other issue is that it might take you some time to learn how Squarespace does things. For those that are unfamiliar with their system, it can take some time. Squarespace websites can also only by hosted on Squarespace servers. So if there is an issue, you might be stuck starting over.

Value for your money

Squarespace hosting packages are decently priced, and they each come with a year of free domain registration. They aren’t a bad value, but their not setting any records either. They are about in the middle of the pack.

Shopify

In this section, I will talk to you about my thoughts on this product. Well, discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly about Shopify. Also, how it is value-wise because I want my customers to be happy with their site in the long term.

The good.

Shopify was designed to do one thing very well, build Eccomerce websites. They have everything you need to develop an Eccomerce website straight out of the box; if you’re building an Eccomerce website, they are the builder to use. They also offer a 14-day free trial option. So you have 14 days to decide if Shopify is right for you before you have to send them a check.

The Bad.

Shopify is a one-trick pony. If you wanted to expand your website into something more than an Eccomerce store, you would have issues. Maybe you wanted to start a video blog about the products you sold. That might be an issue; your experience might be more constrained than other builders.

Value for your money

Shopify does offer a 14-day free trial, and after that 14 days, their hosting packages are on our with the market. If you’re looking to set up a primarily Eccomerce store, they are the builder for you.

Word Press

In this section I will talk to you about my personal thoughts on this product. The good, the bad and the ugly. Also how is it value wise. Because I want my customers to be happy with their site in the long term.

The Good.

WordPress has one great advantage over all these other website builders, it can be hosted anywhere. Several companies even offer packages set up specifically for WordPress. Also it is widely used and it has been around for years, so there is allot of help material out there if you get into problems. Some major companies & organization run their website using WordPress. I have included a few of the more well know websites below.

The Bad.

WordPress has been around for a while, so there are allot of companies that design themes and plugins for it. This can be great because it gives you options, but bad because there are too many cooks in the kitchen and sometimes they don’t always play nice together. WordPress requires a little more attention than other builders. So we recommend our WordPress customers check on their sites and make sure things are running smoothly.

Value for your money

WordPress gives you a website that can be hosted on almost any hosting platform. So it allows you to always price shop for the best hosting package for your needs. I do recommend that customers that choose this option also sign up for my $1 a day monitoring plan. To make sure there are no updating issues and everything plays nice together. A WordPress website contains plugins and themes that are all made by separate companies and every once in a while there is an issue.

Blueprint

Head shot of Employee

In this section I will talk to you about my personal thoughts on this product. The good, the bad and the ugly. Also how is it value wise. Because I want my customers to be happy with their site in the long term.

The Good.

BluePrint was designed to do one thing. Build wedding websites, so if you need a website for your wedding this is the website builder for you. If you need a website to do anything else then you should pick another option. The good news is that since it has a singular focus it does that one thing very well. It comes with allot of great features already prebuilt in. I really liked their RSVP options, it allows guests to quickly reply to your wedding invitations and it puts the whole thing into a pretty cool spread sheet at the end of the day. It also allows you a way to update your guests if there was a last minute change in your wedding schedule or venue. Through this hopefully won’t happen to you it’s nice to have the back up option and not worry about having to call everyone. Blueprint also comes with some pretty great templates. Blueprint also offers some great wedding related services that might be helpful to the engaged couple. So I recommend looking through those if you have the fee time.

The Bad.

If your not building a Wedding Website this is not the wedding site builder for you. Also since BluePrint uses templates there are some perimeters that are locked to make sure everything works properly. So you need to understand that are going to be things you can’t change. As I’m sure you have noticed many of their website templates use high pixel count photos of the couple for the website background. One of the more important things that I have to modify with these websites is the pictures most couples supply me with. So that they fit appropriately on the website. You don’t want your guests just seeing the tops of your heads and not your smiling faces. The Blueprint has its own shopping wedding registry, like a small Amazon that only stocks wedding related objects. Some couples might find this helpful, others might want their visitors to be redirected somewhere else or have a honeymoon fund set up instead.

Value for your money

BluePrint Costs you nothing to use and I can make any adjustments you need in a short amount of time. So overall the value is pretty great for what your getting. I would recommend it for any couple that is engaged and is a little flexible with the websites overall design.
