QR Code being used in coffee shop

Could QR Codes Help You?

– Issue

I recently built a web site for a family member that was getting married using BluePrint. It is a great service if you are getting married and need a low cost way to build a website. They give you a free web domain to use for your website. Sadly its long and cumbersome and less than ideal to use. The longer a domain name is the more chances people will make mistakes trying to type it in. If memory services me, there is a way to pay for an alternative web address. But that would add cost and complexity to a simple website build.

So what was I to do?

– Solution

I turned their long complicated web address into a simple QR Code. The client then took that QR Code and added it to their wedding invitation. This way their guests could now just scan the code from any angle with their phones and they were directed to the website. For those that are unaware of what a QR Code is, please refer to the picture above. That’s right, QR Codes are those strange squares you saw all over the place during the pandemic. Most restaurants used them instead of paper menus to minimize the amount of shared surfaces the public was touching together. Ever Smart Phone since 2002 has come standard with the ability to read a QR Code. Most people are already very familiar with how to use them. Anyone who isn’t can easily figure it out with a small direction below the Code. There is no charge to use make a QR Code. Many websites online will do it for free in just a few seconds. Overall I would recommend using QR Codes if you can. As long as your customer has a smartphone it’s pretty foolproof.
